The village sign is carved in dark wood and depicts a falconer.
The village was amongst lands belonging to the Bigod family, who were Earls of Norfolk and Suffolk. A hunting lodge and falconry was once established here, and this is why the falconer was chosen to represent the villages history.
The present sign was carved by Nick Deans in 1990 to replicate the original carving by Ray Exworth. It was commissioned by the Women's Institute and erected to commemorate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
