Royal Marine Henry Booth • Dunwich

Henry was born in around 1921 to parents from St Albans, Hertfordshire.

When the had war started he joined the Royal Marines. He was assigned to HMS Watchful, however he was on board another vessel when he died.

HMT Thistle was a civilian trawler requisitioned by the Navy in April 1940. 

On 8th May, 1941 it struck a mine off Lowestoft and sank. Ten of her eleven crew were lost, including Marine Booth. 



His body was recovered and he is buried in Dunwich churchyard.
